Salman Al-Khalifa: “Those who are shouting about the racism in Russia, should first pay attention to their own country” – SPORT – EXPRESS

President of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said that looking forward to the World Cup 2018. According to him, the problem of racism in Russia there, but in many other countries the situation is not better.

– the 2018 World Cup will be the first big football draft updated FIFA – quoted “R-Sport” Al-Khalifa. – I look forward to the moment when FIFA finally able to again concentrate on one thing – a great game called football, not international lawyers.

– the World Cup in Russia will be held for 2.5 years . What are the main problems in the country in preparation for the tournament you see now? Perhaps the problem of racism among fans?

– For all that I’ve seen so far, I can say that the championship in Russia will be a brilliant event. Those who are always shouting about racism, must first pay attention to their own country, before throwing accusations against Russia. Of course, we must eradicate racism. Everywhere. But we can not close our eyes to the obvious. Hidden racism in some countries is often much worse than a trick of some primitive fan, shouted obscenities at the stadium. There are countries where racism is almost institutionalized in nature, so let’s be careful, but do not be hypocritical.

Let us recall that Al-Khalifa is one of five candidates for the presidency of FIFA, together with the Prince of Jordan Ali bin al-Hussein, UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino, former deputy general secretary Jerome Champagne and FIFA businessman from South Africa Tokyo Sexwale. FIFA presidential elections will be held on February 26 in Zurich.
