Vitaly Mutko and Igor Lebedev became a candidate for president of the RFU – Kommersant

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Igor Lebedev registered as candidates for the post of president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), the press service of the organization. Igor Lebedev nominated for the post of one member organization RFU (previously reported that it has put forward Smolensk Football Federation), Vitaly Mutko immediately nominated 45 organizations.

Seven people were registered as candidates for one vacancy in the executive committee of the RFU in the group of regional development. Member of the executive committee will be elected together with the president of the RFU at the extraordinary election conference, to be held September 2. In place of the executive committee of the RFU, as reported on the organization’s website, claiming Michael Hershkowitz, Victor Gorlov, Anzor Kavazashvili Andrew Kutepov, Igor Lebedev, Nikolay Levnikov, Vagiz Khidiyatullin.

As reported “Kommersant” on July 21 in the pre-election race for the post of the RAF had a curious turn. Famous coach Valeri Gazzaev, who spent a number of presentations of the program of football development, has refused to participate in elections, and the vice-speaker of the State Duma Igor Lebedev said he was willing to withdraw his candidacy if he guaranteed a seat in the executive committee of the Football Union. Considering that the deadline for submission of documents for the presidency of the RFU will expire on July 24 it is likely that the sports minister Vitaly Mutko, who received full support, will be elected unopposed.
