The former FIFA officials said bribery in the selection of the host of the championship – RBC

The former secretary general of the Confederation of Football in North and Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and a former member of the FIFA Executive Committee, American Chuck Blazer acknowledged receiving bribes during the election of the host countries of the world championships in 1998 and 2010.

70-year-old Blazer – one of the defendants in the scandalous cases of corruption in FIFA, who in 2013 pleaded guilty to extortion and money laundering, fraud, tax evasion and pledged pay a fine of $ 1.9 million. At the moment he is terminally ill.

As previously wrote The New York Times, the US Justice Department built a case against FIFA on the basis of testimony and information obtained from it. Blazer went to deal with the investigation in 2011. Also testifying, he secretly kept an audio recording of his meeting with colleagues from FIFA, including representatives of the Bid Committee.

According to the newspaper New York Daily News, among those invited to her blazer to London similar meetings were also members of the Russian Committee – Vitaly Mutko, Alexei Sorokin (Head of the Russian bid committee). Whether they accepted the invitation, it is unknown.
