Giner: the question of termination of the contract with Capello decides Simonyan, not the executive committee of the RFU – Russian news agency TASS

MOSCOW, June 18. / TASS /. The Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) has no right to decide on the early termination of a contract with the head coach of the national team, which is now the Italian Fabio Capello. According to Tass president of CSKA Moscow, a member of the executive committee of the organization Yevgeny Giner, this issue is in the competence of only one person – the head of the RAF, whose responsibilities currently performed Nikita Simonyan.

On Tuesday, a source in the national team, told Tass that the contract with Capello, who led the team since 2012, will most likely be terminated. Simonyan, commenting on the information, said that the future of the Italian specialist in the national team will be decided at a meeting of the executive committee of the RFU that must elapse June 24th. The same is said and Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko.

“The Executive Committee vote on the issue of breach of contract with Capello should not. When the president of the Russian Football Union Sergei Fursenko was, we decided that this issue is resolved by the Head of organization – said Giner. – Now Mutko said that the decision of the executive committee. However, the spokesman noted that in deciding Simonyan can rely on the opinion of the members of the executive committee, but the final verdict will still make it it. “The statute stipulates that the executive committee does not have the power to appoint or remove the coach. The current agreement with Capello was signed in January last year and calculated until the end of the World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia. The penalty for early termination of the contract with the Italian unilaterally by the RFU at the moment is about 21.5 million euros. Moreover, as explained earlier Giner Tass, the Russian side will have to pay additionally Capello about 11 million euros for the payment of taxes in Italy.
