Yuriy Borzakovskiy: Shubenkov made the impossible possible – Soviet Sport

Head Coach
Russian national athletics Yuriy Borzakovskiy commented victory
Sergei Shubenkova at a distance of 110 meters hurdles at the World Championships in
 Beijing.

«We have been waiting for this success, and finally it happened. Sergei
is brilliant! He ran an incredible race. Win the incumbent
Olympic champion, world record holder – it’s worth it! Shubenkov made
the impossible possible. All athletes need to set ourselves the highest
tasks and not to delay their implementation. Sergey – a good example. I him
Congratulations on behalf of the entire team and management.

I believe that everyone should take an example from his tandem Shubenkova
coach. I hope this medal will be a breakthrough for the Russians in the last days.
Hopefully, everything will turn out in relay races and also show our vysotniki
your level. I’m afraid something guessing, you can see for yourself how the current tournament
develops. On the other hand, we understand that many of our leaders in one way or
otherwise do not appear. But young people are gradually getting stronger and gaining experience.
This Denis Kudryavtsev and Konstantin Tolokonnikov. Therefore, we will develop in
this direction. Ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio “- quoted
 Borzakovskiy VFLA official website.

Recall Shubenkov became world champion, setting the final
Russian record (12.98). He also broke his result shown in July
in Paris (13.06). Thus, for the first time in the history of the Russian sportsman ran
 13 seconds at this distance.

The gold medal was the first Shubenkova for Russia
 World Championships in Beijing.
