MOSCOW, September 8 – R-Sport, Alexander Rogulev. The decision on the limit on foreign players adopted by the CHL on Tuesday, will operate for two years, said the vice-president of the Magnitogorsk “Metallurgist” Gennady Velichkin.

The extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors on Tuesday approved the CHL, players from Kazakhstan and Belarus will be considered as foreign players in league games. Following the meeting, it was determined that the number of foreign players in the applications of clubs for the season by the order of the Ministry of Sports is not regulated. Foreign hockey players (legionnaires) in the Russian KHL clubs are the players who are not eligible to play for the Russian team. The number of foreign players that can enter the game in the Russian KHL clubs, remains the same – 5 (including no more than 1 goalkeeper).

“Decisions made today are designed for two years” – said Vyalichkin journalists.

The decision was due to the fact that the current rules of the league is valid until 2017.

The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation in late summer approved the order on legionaries in Russian hockey. This exception for players from Belarus and Kazakhstan were not spelled out. The order according to which the club should be no more than five players not eligible to play for Russia, came into effect on 28 August and is mandatory for all Russian clubs in the KHL.
