Evgeni Plushenko will take another spinal surgery

Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Yevgeny Plushenko was diagnosed with a new injury spine, reports « R-Sport » with reference to the Director General of Figure Skating Federation of Russia ( FFKKR) Alexander Kogan.

Due to this injury, Plushenko will miss the season-2015/2016 and undergo surgery in the spring of 2016.

In July, the skater does not passed a medical examination and was admitted to the ice camp in Turkey.

«The situation with Evgeni Plushenko complicated. He returned from Israel, where there was a survey that was deteriorating his back. We have received the opinion of the doctors that he has a different disk injury, they found a crack. We discussed the situation and came to a consolidated decision – to boost preparation for performances this season it does not make sense.

 

The operation will be delayed, he will make it appear in the spring. It will hold the Israeli doctors, who made him a previous similar operation. As for the one-time loads that do not require the execution of complex elements, such as quadruple jump – he was able to withstand them. But dive into the daily regime of exercise twice a day for which a serious burden – hence the risk to get more serious injury, “- said Kogan.

 

At the same time, according to Director General FFKKR, despite the injury and subsequent surgery, Plushenko continues to prepare for the Olympics in 2018.

Plushenko last time out on the ice at the Olympic Games in Sochi. Then skater won gold in the team competition, but in individual competitions appeared just before the start of the of spinal injury.
