“To eradicate plague!” OCD takes emergency measures – Soviet Sport

November 18 at an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) was established Temporary Committee on the resolution of the conflict situation in the Russian athletics arising after the publication of the sensational report of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) . The head of the new committee was Gennady Alyoshin, Chairman of UNESCO’s anti-doping.

It should be reminded that the publication of the report of the Anti-Doping Commission WADA has led to a temporary suspension of membership of the Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) in the International Association Track and Field s Federations (IAAF). At the same time, our athletes have lost the right to participate in international competitions under the auspices of IAAF, including the Olympics. This decision IAAF Council adopted, at its emergency meeting on 13 November.

At least an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Russian Olympic Committee November 18 decided to establish a Provisional Committee to rectify this situation and to address the immediate elimination of doping in the training of our athletes.

– To eliminate the infection from the federation! – Unceremoniously, he outlined the primary task of the new committee, the head of Gennady Alyoshin at a meeting with journalists. – And at the same time, we must return to our deserving athletes to participate in the Olympics. We do, however, have very little time, so we must act very swiftly and constructively. Already scheduled for January 16 Extraordinary report and election conference VFLA, which will be resolved and the necessary staffing reshuffle carried out for further fruitful work. A common action plan should be approved before December 1.

– We believe that everyone accepts doping athletes and knowledgeable about the coaches and experts should be punished and diskvalifitsirova us – explains the position of OCD in the matter of his head, Alexander Zhukov. – And all the “clean” athletes should not be deprived of their legitimate right to participate in international competition, especially in the Olympic Games. To coordinate the work to address this issue today at a meeting of the executive committee, and created a temporary committee, which first of all will see the changes in the athletics federation, as it is today, it imposed the main claim. The tasks and powers of this committee will include cooperation with international organizations such as WADA, IAAF and other structures in the area of anti-doping.

– We recommend a reason Gennady Aleshin candidacy for the presidency of this committee – continues Zhukov. – First of all, because he is the head of the UNESCO committee, which deals with just the fight against doping. Gennady – a person who is known worldwide as an uncompromising fighter against doping, and we have high hopes for its credibility in this regard. The committee included representatives of our Federation, for example, Vyacheslav Aminov, president of the Federation of Modern Pentathlon, Sergei Shahray, president of Federation of Badminton, includes lawyers, representatives of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, head of the Athletes Commission of the ROC Olga Brusnikina.

– Is it true that the Commission is going to address the ROC athletes in the IOC Athletes’ Commission for support?
– We discussed this question, including in connection with numerous appeals of athletes, which I understand. Our best athletes such as Elena Isinbayeva, never taking dope, outraged, and their emotions are understandable. But today the situation is such that you need a very sensitive approach to all negotiations with international organizations. Today, we, by the way, hear the decision to the WADA RUSADA. I ask very carefully to respond to the claims that are made to the Russian side. The committee, which we created, is to consider all claims, all the comments that make us the IAAF and WADA, and objectively respond to them.

– On Monday, the Russian delegation went to WADA, to establish cooperation. Is there any progress?
– I can not comment on the situation because Russia to the WADA is the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Sports also accredits the Russian anti-doping laboratory. However, with regard to cooperation with other international organizations, I want to note that we feel strongly supported by the International Olympic Committee. We have signed a memorandum with the IOC, which clearly articulated our common goal: ensuring the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games-2016. Thus, with the IOC have full contact and mutual understanding.

– How serious conversation about the fact that our athletes can perform at the Olympic Games in Rio under a white flag?
– Russian athletes have to compete under the Russian flag. This is our position and we will be in this position firmly insist.

– If unfavorable developments can we talk about a boycott of the Games by Russia?
– We categorically against political interference in sport against any boycott of the Olympic Games. Sport should be out of politics, and we are very strictly adhere to this point of view.

– There is a clear date before which the Temporary Committee should do its job?
– The Committee will work until the solutions of our current problems. If we manage to implement all the recommendations for regulation of anti-doping in Russia, if it will cooperate fully with the commission IAAF, which has already been formed, and will arrive in Russia a few days ago, and finally our athletes will go to the Olympics in Rio, we will assume that the work Committee fully implemented. I want to reiterate that the main task of the committee is not only to fight off claims that we impose, but to really clean up the sport of doping.
