Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will continue Super Series – Kommersant

Tennis

Together with Roger Federer semi-finalist of the group on Stan Smith Continue in London the final tournament of the Association of Tennis Professionals began Novak Djokovic won his third match Tomas Berdych – 6: 3, 7: 5. And the next opponent of the first racket of the world Rafael Nadal in his final match in the group Ilie Nastase beat David Ferrer – 6: 7 (2: 7), 6: 3, 6: 4.

Until relatively recently, the longest-running confrontation in the history of men’s tennis was a series of meetings between Ivan Lendl and John McEnroe, who from 1980 to 1992, played each other 36 times (counts 21 listed Lendl win). Now, however, they are not champions, as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer held each other for 43 match and Djokovic and Rafael Nadal – and even more, 45 and Saturday, this outstanding series, which has the Spaniard until the minimum benefit will continue.

However, if Nadal solved the problem of the semi-finals after two rounds, then Djokovic had harder: to take second place in the group, Ilie Nastase, he needed on Thursday night in the final match against Czech Tomas Berdych to take one set. He did it, and quite quickly, and then picked up and the second batch. Thus, the 30-year-old Berdych, who spoke on the ATP World Tour Finals for the seventh time, the first time the tournament has finished, failing to win a single match. However, it should be noted that he had never found himself in a group with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer at the same time.

Rafael Nadal on Friday also met with David Ferrer. This game from the tournament point of view is not solved absolutely nothing, nevertheless the Spaniards plenty of fun in the O2 Arena, showing a very beautiful game. As a result, in the protracted game of this tournament is 2 hours 37 minutes, Nadal was stronger – 6: 7 (2: 7), 6: 3, 6: 4.

Before the semi-final Djokovic – Nadal Serb looks like a clear favorite. Coverage at the O2 Arena is ideally suited to him in the manner of the game, especially in matches against rivals stretchy style – just like the Spaniard. This, incidentally, has repeatedly pointed out in previous years, Nadal himself. In addition, on account of the Spaniard in three matches against Djokovic held this season, no one won the game.

However, the failure of Djokovic in a duel with Federer (second half of the match, the Serb merely failed) leads to some reflection. It is possible that Nadal is the case is not as hopeless as it seems.
