Russians in the playoffs Eurobasket – BBC

Russian basketball confidently beat the national team of Slovakia in the second stage of the European Championship and topped their group. Team Anatoly Myshkin guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals, regardless of the outcome of the final match against Spaniard.

Despite the three titles of champions of Europe, the Russians did not initially considered favorites this Eurobasket. After the failure of the last such tournament and missed the World Cup in the wards Anatoly Myshkina few people set, and their success in the preliminary round was a small sensation.

Russians, recall, won their group taking the upper hand even over powerful Serbia, and got to the second stage with a guaranteed four points.

In the second period of the match Russians played in the defense much more reliable and able to break five points, and finally tipped the scales in their favor, they bowed after a long break, winning the third quarter with account 23:12.

In the last ten the team is not too strained, earning a couple of 24 points, and, of course, about any comeback here and out of the question.

Hero of the match in once again became 16-year-old Maria Vadeeva, scored 22 points and made seven rebounds. It is also worth noting the performance of Eugenia Beljakova (17 + 3 assists) and Epiphany Prince (11 + 6 rebounds + 5 assists).

In Slovak squad better than the others have shown themselves Barbora Balintova and Zofia Grustsakova. Both basketball players earned 15 points and made five rebounds.

The decisive factor in determining the winner was the implementation of three-pointers.
