MOSCOW, October 1 – R-Sport. The hockey club “Salavat Yulaev” (Ufa) on Thursday announced the appointment of coach-coordinator Igor Zakharkina the post of acting head coach, former steering team Anatoly Emelin will continue to work on the staff as head coach.
The following is a biographical note.
Igor Zakharkin born March 16, 1958 in Bryansk. Hockey started in the town of Konakovo, and then moved to CSKA, whose hockey school and graduated. At the professional level is not performed.
In 1979, he graduated from the Moscow State Central Institute of Physical Culture. As part of the institute’s team won several national championships among students. From 1981 to 1986 worked as the head of the complex scientific group SKA (Leningrad), then went to work for trainer scientific and methodological support for CSKA Moscow, where he worked until 1988.
From 1991 to 1993 he was head of research and methodical department of the Russian Hockey Federation. From 1995 to 2004 he worked as the head coach at the Swedish Club “Hudiksvall”, “Munkfors” and “Hedemura” who act in the lower divisions of the championship in Sweden.
In summer 2004, became assistant to Vyacheslav Bykov at CSKA. In 2006 he joined the coaching staff Bykov in the Russian team. In 2007, the world championship Russian team won bronze medals in the 2008 Russian national team under the leadership of Bykov’s the first time in 15 years, won the World Championship gold, and a year later she defended her title. At the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, the Russian team lost in the quarterfinals of Canadians with the score 3: 7.
May 14, 2009, while remaining national coach, the Bulls and Zaharkin went to work at the club KHL “Salavat Yulaev”. The KHL season-2009/10 Ufimtsev won the bronze medal, and the next season won the Gagarin Cup. April 30, 2011 term of the contract of head coach Bykov and senior coach Zakharkina expired and they left the team.
Zakharkina last tournament as coach of the Russian team was the 2011 World Cup. The Russian team won four victories and suffered four defeats in two group stages. In the quarterfinals, the Russians, playing during the match, the Canadians won (2: 1). In the semifinals, the Russian team lost to the team of Finland (0: 3), and in the match for third place lost to the Czechs (4: 7), and won the final in fourth place.
After the tournament the coaching staff of the Russian team was dismissed . After retiring from the national team, Zaharkin from 2012 to 2014 worked as the head coach of the Polish national team. Bulls at the time worked as a trainer and consultant of the Polish team.
April 4, 2014 Bulls and the coaching staff headed Zaharkin SKA. Under their leadership team in his first year won the Gagarin Cup, defeating in the final playoff KHL “Ak Bars” with a score of 4-1.
June 17, 2015 SCA announced that it has agreed with the Bulls Club of the termination of cooperation. The coach said that he had to do it, “for family reasons”. However, Bykov left the club and Zaharkin.
August 1, 2015 it became known that Zaharkin appointed coach-coordinator of “Salavat Yulaev”.
