The Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA ) supported the candidacy of Secretary General of the Swiss Gianni Infantino in the upcoming presidential elections in the International Football Federation (FIFA). It is reported by TASS , with reference to the press service of UEFA.
Members of the Executive Committee discussed the issue during a conference call on Monday and expressed unanimous support Infantino.
“The impending presidential election – a crucial moment in the future of FIFA. We believe that Gianni has all the necessary qualities to carry out reforms to restore the integrity of FIFA. He will receive our full support, “- said in a statement the executive committee.
FIFA Presidential elections will be held February 26, 2016. Previously, the intention to participate in elections also expressed UEFA president Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Prince of Jordan Ali Bin Al-Hussein and former captain of the Trinidad and Tobago national football team David Nahid.
