Vitaly Mutko: “If someone wanted to undermine the image of FIFA and Blatter, he did it” – SPORT – EXPRESS

Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said with respect to FIFA president Sepp Blatter. 79-year-old led the Swiss federation in 1998, but in early June, after the fifth re-election, resigned. He will continue to lead the organization to new FIFA presidential elections scheduled for the coming winter.

– Blatter 40 years in FIFA and I am just a member of the executive committee – Tass quoted Mutko. – The last five years in the Executive Committee, I observed the work of FIFA. This organization has become the most powerful in the world. It is not just holding dozens of tournaments of different levels, and organizes various development programs, which invested billions of dollars. In my opinion, Blatter – a large sports official, who lifted the FIFA to the highest level. It’s a fact – to take at least an economic component.

If someone aims to undermine the image of FIFA and its president, he succeeded. The image of the organization has become such that we need drastic changes. The entire football family have to go through this. We need to take steps to stabilize the situation. We need to talk about FIFA, it came to the game. I recently saw ratings Women’s World Championship. The level of interest was higher than in many events. I did not expect this.
