The world champion Ronaldo announced his return to the sport. The Brazilian will play for a club of the second division of the US “Fort Lauderdale Strikers,” according to Goal.com.

He will play for the “Fort Lauderdale Strikers” in the playoffs championship NASL. “I’ll be back on the field, but it will be later. I plan to play for the club in the playoffs. Now we are preparing all the documents for my return, but for now I need to lose weight,” – said Ronaldo in an interview with Lance!.

Ronaldo already started to train in full mode in order to get in shape for the start of the playoffs in the NASL. Play-off matches will begin in June.

38-year-old Ronaldo, who finished his career in 2011, is the majority owner of “Fort Lauderdale Strikers.” He bought shares of Florida team last December. According to Ronaldo, he sees his task in turning the club into one of the strongest teams in the United States.

Ronaldo retired in 2011. His last club was the Brazilian “Corinthians”. Before playing for the Brazilian, “Milan”, “Real”, “Inter”, “Barcelona”, PSV and “Cruzeiro”. Three times – in 1996, 1997 and 2002 – Ronaldo voted the best player in the world by FIFA. In 1997 and 2002 he received the “Golden Ball” according to France Football.

For the national team of Brazil Ronaldo spent 98 matches and scored 62 goals. Together with the country’s national team, he won two world championships, in 1994 and 2002, but in 1994 he was not spent on the field for a single minute.
