A member of the Board of Directors of the KHL Vyacheslav Fetisov believes that the penalty by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in respect of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) has more moral significance. Today IIHF punished FHR fine of 80,000 Swiss francs (5,691,024 rubles at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on August 22) for the care of Russian national team players from the ice before performing O Canada (1: 6) after the final of the world championship 2015 in Prague.
Recall that ntsident occurred on 17 May. During the ceremony of awarding the winners with gold medals most of the team Oleg Znarka headed to the locker room. Some of the Russian national team players, including Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Viktor Tikhonov and Dmitry Kulikov, for some time remained on ice until the anthem of Canada.
– I do not think that this punishment is essential for an organization such as PCR – leads TASS words Fetisov. – But the fact that our team became the first to afford such an act – will forever remain in the history. So for a fine imposed by the IIHF FHR it is, rather, a moral value. PCR itself will decide whether to appeal, but, in my opinion, it would not make sense. Actually, before doing something, you must first think about the consequences.
The fact that our players have left the ice during the national anthem, do not blame the organizers, and the management team.
