– for you personally how difficult was the transition from player to officials?
– It is not easy to emerged. But I was lucky that when I started in CSKA sports school, I had a great team. And that is very important, lucky with fellow competitors. He studied a new profession in the forced mode – and as a result has achieved good results. Our teams often won in competitions not only in Moscow, but even Russia – which did not exist. – For me one of the most important objectives – to sportsmen proud of in the region. In the Nizhny Novgorod region the situation is gradually changing for the better. The success of professional clubs and the emergence of new sports facilities have increased interest in the sport.
The teams and athletes must be popular and loved by the fans. And now as a result – attractive to sponsors. For patrons the opportunity to be associated with a favorite club must be a reason for pride rather than “shipping instructions” from above.

– The new composition of the executive committee – a good basketball team, just look at this list. Maybe we said in VTB United League ( laughing )? But seriously, the executive committee are mostly collected young energetic people who are familiar with different aspects of the basketball facilities. We are able to identify with all the most important moments in the development of Russian basketball – the appointment of coach, develop coaching techniques to popularize our sport … In general, the work enough for everyone. Time, I hope, too.
– The current relationship between FIBA and the Euroleague has entered the phase of the Cold War. With high probability, soon it’s time to open confrontation. On whose side in this case it is necessary to perform the RSE?
– In 2001, the Russian clubs, supported by FIBA as follows got ears … Until now disentangle – our clubs still do not have the representation in the Euroleague, to which could be calculated from the size of budgets and power trains. Only this year, the first time in history, we got three straight trips to the main tournament of the Euroleague – without the need to win in qualifying cabin.

– Actually our development strategy has always implied bet on the Russian basketball. And three representatives of the “Lower” – Antonov, tail and Baburin – are now in the location of the team, where some great show. Incidentally, the same Baburin, who several times literally saved the team in the end game playoff United League in 2014/15 had summer some favorable from a financial point of view offers. But – I remained loyal to the club, which we really appreciate. Tails is progressing every year, it is now – starting five player team.
