The former president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and former Vice President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Eugenio Figueredo were formally charged with fraud and money laundering as part of the case of corruption in FIFA, reports TASS .

The official will be in custody until a hearing on his case. He was arrested in Switzerland in late May, and in November agreed to extradition to Uruguay.

It is noted that the 83-year-old Figueredo faces up to 15 years in prison.
